At St. Stephen’s, we say prayers at least 3 times a day:

  • During collective worship
  • Before lunch
  • At the end of the day

Lunchtime / End of day prayers

At lunchtime and the end of the day, the younger children will say a set prayer together. In KS2, the ‘special person’ of the day will usually say their own prayer which the rest of the children will agree with by saying ‘Amen’.

Collective worship

During collective worship, the prayer will fit with the topic being looked at. In class collective worship, often the special person will read or say a prayer. Sometimes the children will all write their own prayers or be invited to say a prayer in a time of quiet known as ‘open prayer’.
