Welcome to Year 2!
We hope you had a lovely break and are ready for a short half term.
Our topic this half term is ‘Monet, Monet, Monet’’ and “The Victorians”.
We are now beginning the preparations for our SATs tests in May.
We will be working hard throughout the year to focus on our handwriting so we can earn our pen licenses before we move to Year 3. Please help your child at home when they bring their spelling homework home.
To support your child in becoming more independent, please make sure all of their belongings are clearly labelled with their names.
Please take note of what happens on each day in year 2 and ensure your child is equipped and ready for a successful day.
- Spelling and times tables are sent home on Mondays
- Reading books changed Mondays and Thursdays
- Indoor PE kit needed on Monday
- Homework is due in Wednesday
- Outdoor PE kit is needed on Thursdays
- Spelling test and tables test Friday
- Library visit – Friday
- Homework is sent home on Fridays
- MATHS BOOSTER on Mondays
Homework will continue to be sent home on Fridays and should be returned on Wednesdays. We ask that all homework is done in pencil, until your child receives their pen licence!
We will be providing children with as many opportunities as possible to read to an adult in school on the run up to SATs. We would appreciate if you could read with your child at least three times a week at home and record any reading in their reading record. Please remember to send your child’s reading book and record to school every day.
We are working really hard in class on our comprehension skills and would love it if you can question your children after their reading about what they have read, how the characters feel and predict what might happen next.
Thank you for your continued support,
Miss Postill Miss Baron Miss Lawler
